The Harthill Royal Golf Club
About Us
Based in Harthill the club comprises a group of ‘social golfers’, who share a love of golf and social interaction. As well as holding several golf outings each year, the club members also successfully organise a number of social events.
The club was founded in 2001 as The Sports Bar Golf Club. The club was formed to encourage participation in golf and social activities amongst the regulars in The Sports Bar and many of the founding members remain with the club today.
The first meeting was held in The Sports Bar, Harthill in October 2001 and the club organised its first outing in the spring of 2002, visiting Winterfield Golf Club in Dunbar.
In the years since, the annual golfing weekend has become the highlight of the club’s golfing calendar, while our Sport Dinner's have raised over £20,ooo for local and national charities.
Following the closure of the Sport Bar, the club moved to across the road to The Royal Bar, where it continued to prosper. Now associated with the Harthill Royal Junior Football Club, and based in the villages 'Howf' social club, the original vision remaining unchanged -
To enjoy the company of all members, be it playing golf, organising fundraising and charity activities or social events. The continuing promotion of good fellowship between members is paramount in maintaining the basic principles of the club. Genuine respect for golf and fellow members…………and having fun!
Our Charitable Work
Since it's inception The Royal Bar Golf Club has endeavoured to raise money to support both local and national charities.
Our annual Sportsman's Dinner in particular has surpassed anything originally thought possible., with over £23,000 raised for charitable causes.
Whilst the members can be commended for their efforts, the success of this event has only been made possible through the generosity of our sponsors, doners and friends.
